On April 26th, 1999 my Mother gave me her kidney and a second chance at life. I intend to make the fullest of it. Now it’s my turn to inspire and pay it forward!

The Person that is doing the Climb to Inspire

Hi my name is Kevin Mallia ,

I was born on Monday March 17th, 1980 in Toronto, Ontario Canada. When I was 16 years old I got diagnosed with Juvenile Nephronophthisis Kidney disease. I was fortunate enough to be a match with my mother Josie Service. I chose to have had peritoneal dialysis from December 1998 until April 1999 so i could finish my first year of college. Then on Monday April 26th, 1999 my mother Josie Service donated her kidney and I got a second chance at life. I had my transplant at Toronto General Hospital. Since then I have been trying to live life to the fullest and travel as much as possible with my beautiful wife Paulina Jimenez.

My 25th Anniversary is fast approaching and I view this as a chance to inspire other transplant recipients. I will be climbing Chimborazo in Ecuador in 2024. Chimborazo’s peak is 6,263 meters above sea level. The peak is also the farthest from the Centre of the earth. I am climbing to inspire other transplant recipients that life isn’t over after your transplant, it’s just the beginning.

That beginning is what ever you want it to be. Wether it’s learning how to draw, learn to swim, run a marathon or climb a mountain like myself.

On top of that I am also trying to raise $25,000 for the Kidney Foundation. Please click on the “Take Action” bottom above and then click on “Donate”. It will take you to the Kidney Foundation webpage and under my category “Project Chimborazo, The Climb to Inspire”.
